So What is all of this talk about an EVOLUTION?

Mountain Buggy has evolutionized itself with the introduction of the Mountain Buggy. They took their current line up of strollers and developed a new stroller based on feedback from parents from across the globe. Here is what they have come up with:

LISTEN. DEVELOP. DELIVER.

NEW STYLE GRAB BAR- One grip on, one grip off- a smarter clamp system onto the frame, allowing easier access in and out fo the stroller for the child

TAILFREE HARNESS- Clever and tidy new harness system, ensuring no harm to your child by any excess tail straps.

AUTOMATIC FRAME LOCK- An instant click to ensure that your stroller is secure to store away.

ZIP FABRIC SLING- Easy on, easy off the stroller frame for easy cleaning and or adding the optional bassinet.

If these new changes are not enough check out how you can now personalize your buggy. The new 2013 Urban Jungle and Swift offer hoods in different colors so you can mix and match your buggy. The hoods will be sold separately and retail for $34.99. That is a great price to re-fashion your stroller! Starting to ship next month!

For the love of the race t-shirt…..

Picture For those of you that have been running in races a white t-shirt and a medal used to be status quo. Most races have given up on giving out medals but, continue to give out race tee’s. 99% of your 5k or 10k races are still the white logo’d tees with the race graphic on the front and the sponsors on the back. I have 20+ of these white tee’s that I only use to clean house in. Who wants to run in cotton??? It keeps the sweat on your body and it does not breathe as well as a tech tee. For a little more money you can get a tech tee that you would actually run in again or wear a really cool graphic tee done on a color like this one shown above from the Westminster Women’s Classic put on by 3W races. I actually “wear” this cotton tee for every day things like going to soccer practices. It is a favorite! Still shows that I ran in a race but, it doesn’t shout it out like so many others do. I realize races need to get the word out about their cause and or race and they need to show their sponsors (I have been one of those sponsors and I am happy to wear a tee with my business on it). I also realize that a plain white tee with a graphic on the front is the best way to advertise their race.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could “opt out” of the tee or say the first 100 to register get a free tech tee? Just thoughts….I will continue to give out cotton tees but, sell the tech tee’s I hope those who wear them wear them because they like the graphics or logo….

Another thought is to give a sweat towel, visor or socks out to the racers…Personally, I miss the bling and would rather get a medal at the end of a race then a white cotton tee….need a few ideas on what to do with those white cotton tee? Check out this post on what to do with race tee’s, bibs and medals:  http://www.active.com/running/Articles/What-to-Do-With-Your-Old-Race-Bib-T-shirts-and-Medals.htm

Oh how they have changed!

As most of you know I am a mother of one plus triplets. I had 4 in a stroller at one time. I also had 3 in infant seats at one time. The seat I used was Graco. The number one selling brand in America. I loved their car seats but, my children quickly outgrew them. It used to be 20 lbs was the limit and at one year you could turn your child around to face forward. You really wanted to turn them around earlier though because their feet always seemed so crammed against the back of your vehicles seat.

Fast forward almost 10 years and things have really changed. Not only is rear facing still the safest position for your infant it can be done up until they are a toddler! I recently learned this at a great home party sponsored by Graco.Graco has come up with a new infant seat called the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40 (Currently only available at Babies R Us). It can be used rear facing from an infancy weight of 4 lbs (even my trio could have used it) up until they are 40 lbs. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that your child stays rear facing up until age 2 because they are more than five times safer riding rear facing. This seat is great news for parents of larger babies. What I really liked about the seat is that even my long little ones could have used it because the seat has 8 recline positions. Allowing you to adjust the seat as your baby grows. It even has a retractable kick plate for your child’s little feet to rest against so that you do not ruin your vehicles interior. One other important feature is the Click Connect attachment which allows you to take your baby from your vehicle to stroller with one secure easy step of a “click”.

Currently this seat will only fit with Graco strollers. As this article was being written we knew of a few of the better priced baby stroller manufactures waiting for the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40 car seat to arrive to be tested with their own adapters and strollers. I will give you another update soon.

We will be giving away a NEW in box Mena print SnugRide Click Connect 40 (shown to your left) in approx. 1 month. If you want to be one of the first to know about our giveaway be sure to join us on Facebook or sign up for our newsletter (sign up on the right side bar of our blog). Excited…..you should be as this car seat retails for $219.99. Stay tuned for more great things!!!

The Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 – the first and only newborn to two-year infant car seat that actually grows with your baby from four pounds all the way up to 40 pounds. The car seat is designed for a parent on the go. The infant car seat can be easily removed from the base and used as a carrier when the infant is small, providing portability and convenience so you can easily move your infant in and out of the car without disturbing them.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently made the recommendation to keep all children in rear-facing car seats until the age of 2. Graco set out to make this product so parents can keep infants rear facing longer while still keeping them comfortable.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Graco. The opinions and text are all mine.

Something on Every Active Parents Mind: Kids, Education and Fitness

I recently came across this infographic put out by the CDC explaining how kids who exercise for 60 minutes a day get better grades in school. I think every parent wants our child to do well is school. Looks like if we keep our children fit they can be at the top of their class as it gives them more confidence too! In later years sports also help to keep them out of “trouble” at school.CDC Burn to Learn

Here is a short quiz to test your childs fitness IQ. I was blown away by the results. Continue reading “Something on Every Active Parents Mind: Kids, Education and Fitness” »

Look who has a new Double Jogging Stroller for 2013….

I am beyond ecstatic to share with you a new double jogging stroller option! Yahooo! The Baby Jogger Summit XC has always been a great stroller for taller or older children. At what age do most of us need a stroller with a high seat back? When we have a toddler or pre-schooler ages 2-5. The Baby Jogger Summit XC and now the Summit X3 both will deliver a high seat back when you need it the most. Mama’s got to get her workout in and if your preschooler is not happy it is not going to happen! Being able to look out and see what is going on in front of your preschoolers eyes is what helps both of you share a mutual bond of being outdoors and let’s you get your workout in!

I have yet to get my hands on the new 2013 Summit X3 jogging stroller but, I can tell you from what Holly at Baby Gizmo is showing us you will not be disappointed. Continue reading “Look who has a new Double Jogging Stroller for 2013….” »

My Grandmother is a Model of Courage & Strength

Being that October is Breast Cancer awareness month I thought it appropriate to talk about a disease that will affect 1 in 8 of us women. It is a disease that I give to each year because it is that important to me that we one day find a cure. I do not want my own young daughter to have to face what so many of us are facing today! Here is a positive outcome of one of my own experiences with Breast Cancer.

Cancer had not affected any of my family members until two years ago ! My Grandma who was 81 at the time, worked as a nurse for years, walked on a daily basis with her trusted friend Joey the dash hound. Growing up she stayed away from the sun, never smoked and had always kept herself trim and fit. That did not stop her from being a statistic…she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Interesting enough, because of her age it is not hereditary. I believe the cut off is 75. Anyone who gets cancer after age 75 is considered old age. Who knew, I guess 50 years ago people would just die. With over 200 forms of cancer now I can see how that would happen. Now we live long enough to know what we have and then have to battle it! Joggermom VS REI …. Buyer Beware Sales are’nt always what they appear to be….

As an on-line retailer I am faced with this question 3 or 4 times a year where a customer comes to us asking us to meet a price issued by REI because they are offering 15-20% off of their retail pricing. Let me just say their discounts are not all that they say they are. I worked in the wholesale business for 10+ years so I am no stranger to creative marketing. I appreciate that they have to try and fool their customers into believing they are getting a great deal by becoming a member. If you do not Continue reading “Joggermom VS REI ….
